Sampling from FLAC

Hi guys, this is my 1st topic in engish (sorry for my english)

It's possible to sample from a FLAC ?
If I convert a FLAC in a .waw and I load it into mpc, i have high quality samples' ?

I sample ever from vinyl and i wanna ask this: the quality of the sample taken from the vinyl and the quality of the sample taken from flac are similar? What are the differences between the sampling from a vinyl and from a FLAC? It change so much?

flac is supposed to be higher quality than .wav, but some people just rip audio in a lower format and then label it as flac.

if you do have something in true flac format, instead of converting it to wav, just record it into the mpc. just hit play on the flac and record on the mpc. the sample will end up as wav either way and if the quality of the sample is high to begin with, it really wont make a difference.

but if i had a choice though, id record from vinyl over any other source.

Flac is not higher quality than wav; they will be exactly the same, flac just takes up less memory.
It's a "lossless" audio compression codec, meaning if you un-compress it, you end up with exactly the same file you compressed in the first place.
But like DPM said, be wary, because if you compress a crap file into a flac, you still have a crap file. It doesn't create quality; it's just good at preserving it.

Converting it first will get you the best quality, but the loss in quality from recording into the MPC like DPM said probably won't be noticeable. Personally, I'd find converting it to be easier and faster than the recording method.

As for recording from vinyl vs. flac, it's totally different, and based on personal preference. Some people might say that the digital is better quality because of all the other factors involved in vinyl playback. But a ton of people prefer the analog sound and color of vinyl to a theoretically perfect quality digital file. It's up to you. I wouldn't sample from vinyl because I don't have a turntable...

although i think sampling .flac files by recording them into your mpc is faster, becuase very few programs that work on mac (what i use) convert .flac files, so i just find it easier to playback my .flac files using vlc (which also converts flac files, but its a weird/long way of doing it) and record the outs of my computer into my mpc.
