What was their main drum machine? was it a TR-808 and a Linndrum?

I'm trying to recreate some of their beats and I want to know if I am in the right ball park.

Thanks.

Any other beat machines they are using? What about the synths? Moog? DX7?

My favorite Loose Ends track is "slow down" by the way.

The second Loose Ends album was phenomenal...the one with "Cheap Talk". not sure if it sold as much as the one before with "Hanging on a string"..Surprised you would have to ask that 808 kick and snare is recognizable. Good stuff you took me back.

peace

Arturia spark got me covered for the time being. Step sequencing hiphop is actually fun.

I was shocked that loose ends didn't use drumulator or anything else.

I remember "you can't stop the rain" being played to death when it came out. I first thought it was either the jones girls or one of those other groups that was doing their thang back then.

Y'all rekindled some good memories.

If you're interested in Loose Ends, you'll enjoy this discussion with Carl McIntosh (1 hour 47 minutes).

http://www.redbullmusicacademy.com/lect ... loose-ends

Talks about the TR-808 from the 20-30 minute mark and how Loose Ends also used the Linn 9000, MPC60 and MPC3000 in their productions. McIntosh also provides great insight into other instruments used by the band, record label issues and lots of other stuff you probably didn't know.

Thanks Clint. That's what I was looking for. Did you ever hear the new loose ends circa 2011. I remember J Rocc playing it on the Gilles Peterson show he hosted with Madlib

Never heard about any form of Loose Ends comeback, that would be interesting though.
