i have a microkorg and a mpc2000xl. korg says it is multi timbral, but i cant seem to be able to figure this out. i thought multi timbral meant being able to play more than on program at a time on the keyboard. how can i play two different sounds on the keyboard at once? i think there is something about the midi that is escaping my understanding. thanks in advance

with most synths you have to send your tracks on different MIDI channels...

so for instance you want to play 2 different patches/sounds at once you'd need sound 1 to recieve on MIDI channel 1....sound 2 on MIDI channel 2, etc...it's not all that difficult. read your microkorg manual.

The MicroKorg can only play one Patch at a time, you can however have 2 layers going on in a Patch.
I just Sequence different things like a Bassline, an Arpeggio, and a Synthline in the MPC, Then Multitrack each as Audio into the Digi 002.
Multitimbral part is the layering of two diff sounds.
