a few questions about note off, poly, and mono

wondering what you guys use most of the time,

I would like to use poly but alot of the times the sample is too fast or slow for the beat

can i speed this up or slow it down to match the beat, or is it best to just chop it to smaller pieces and play the beat at that speed?

also same with loops and stuff

anyone have any advice on chopping

if I had to guess.. if he wanted to keep it poly... if he slowed the bpm, maybe his long samples wont overlap.. maybe that is what he is thinking? (or raising the bpm so short samples dont have a gap)


Yeah you could do that, or you could chop properly... or mutes, or mono or note off.

Alot of dudes i see on youtube, are clearly playing the notes in poly or mono and the samples seem to be in time with the rest of the song

my question is it it better to chop the samples more fine and play them back faster or to time stretch or pitch stretch the sample and speed it up that way?

use both.. it winds up coming together after a while... you can play the samples by pushing the pads until you find a pattern you like... and then you try and get your bpm set so you can record it.

Just do what works. A lot of dudes on youtube do what the **** they want to. Thats what they didn't tell you. If you have to timestretch, then so be it, need to pitch tune? **** it, pitch tune the ****. There are no rules in these **** skies.

fuq a timestretch, i use crossfade loops.
