Aligning tracks when doing a remix

hey guys,
I have to ask a question to hip hop producers who do remixes. I'm doing alot of beats specifically for remixs recently, for which I also have the acapella and the exact bpm's.

The only problems I get is aligning the beat with the acapella! Up to today I have always used audacity. How?

Through a trial and error process, cutting a very small blank portion before one of the two tracks starts, and keeping pasting it or recutting it until the two tracks are aligned.

VERY time consuming, VERY imprecise, VERY frustrating.

My question is, what is a good software to align beat with acapellas while doing remixes?

If only I could set a bookmark in both tracks at the precise moment when they should be synced and then align the two bookmarks Id be set.
I mean it's not rocket science.
However either that or another way there is for sure some program which makes making remixes more easy than that...

Ableton Live.

Just do some Googling on it's audio warping and there is no shortage of videos and articles showing it used for precisely what you're asking about.

This is pretty straightforward in any DAW but Ableton seems the most competent for remix duties and stuff like this.

I learnt a long time ago in Cubase how to nudge audio in milliseconds and create blocks around nudged parts for easy copying and pasting. Seems like a lost art these days.

Take the original song with vocals and all and align that with your beat. Then take the Acapella and align that with the original song (Yes, with the vocals too). When all three tracks are aligned perfectly, just remove the original song and viola.

Yes, this is crazy shit I do when I can't figure out stuff so I invent my own steez. Easy as a banana in the tail-pipe.

I sample the vocals into my MPC and assign them to pads. A pad for each verse and a pad for the hook. I do the same if I'm using Ableton, using pads to trigger clips. Just tap the pad at the right time.

6 or 7 years ago, I used a software called Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge. It Was not multi-track but one HELL of a sample editor. What brings it to mind was a small feature where you could drop markers on the fly by simply pressing the M key. Great for chopping ideas (at the time i was using a 2000xl but I could see it being great for your purposes too. Good luck
