Some weeks ago I started with porting several tracks to my MPC. When starting it was quite hard to figure out how to bring 15 tracks into 128 MB of RAM but after converting the first one it felt quite easy. It's damn lot work to cut all samples, create midi sequences and setup everything in the MPC, but finally it's fun and sounds just awesome when adding the master compressor
Yesterday I gladly remembered that it's possible to load up 22 KHz samples, which saves memory and makes some samples sound even better. Man, I used that technique with my S2000 ten years ago and nowadays I forgot most memory-saving tricks.
So if anyone's in need of saving memory try converting samples (especially drums) to 22 KHz and maybe mono. For longer sounds, textures and not too much quality relying stuff you can also pitch the sample +12 or +24 semitones and then load it into the MPC which plays back with -12 or -24 semitones. Saves a lot of memory and can result in crazy sounds.
And yeah, it's also the first time that I used audiotracks (with JJOS), which works surprisingly smooth.
