ableton and mpc

hi ableton/ mpc users!

i make some "experiments" with ableton and the mpc. at the end of the day i cant say which line up would work for me.
so maybe you guys can tell your opinions and experiences.

i start this poll to know from you

how do you use your combo? and why do you use it in this way??

MPC1k master and Ableton as slave for production (not for live use).
Best of both worlds for me.
MPC's hardware playfulness with ableton's wide opened sound module possibilities.
The combo becomes a badass mpc on steroids.
Haven't changed configuration in 3 years.

I have to say though that the reason why I'm so into this combo is because I started producing on the mpc1k as standalone 8 years ago so I'm really used to the interface and love it. Then got tired of sound limitations (needed better delay, reverb, eq, comp and sidechain) and tried ableton live alone. I liked the soft a lot but got lost in the almost limitless sound possibilities, got tired of using a mouse and staring at a screen and I realized I missed the hardware interface and mpc sequencer.
So, thanks to this forum and its members, the mpc/ableton guide from Tutor (it's all in there), lots of experimentation and quite a few headaches I found out how to make them work together in a way which works for me.

Also having the mpc as master seq saves quite a bit of CPU. With the mpc I use a MBP from 2009 (2.5ghz and 8g ram), a Fast track ultra audio/midi interface and on Abes I only use drumracks and simplers as instruments (no vst instr as I only sample external sounds: acoustic, electric & electronic) with a few effects here and there on master, sends and individual tracks = cpu never goes over 15-20%.

Had I started on a laptop + controller from the beginning it would have probably been different.

MPC as sequencer, ableton as sampler/ sound engine.

Personally I hate ableton's sequencer. But I do like the drumracks in ableton especially when hooking it up with the MPC. Off I course I don't have to tell you that ableton offers more features and flexibility for editing samples and FX.

I really love the MPC's sequencer for sequencing hardware and software. It's just so dead simple and very stable. Also the transport buttons controlling the MPC's sequencer never fails. No mmc hook ups or triggering the sequencer by mouse.

i love the follow actions and dummy clips in ableton. the possibility to use loops and sample with different lenght is a really nice feature. i have to resample sounds to do this with my mpc.

i use the mpc to sketch sounds and rhythms. later i send the audio stuff in the software and use dummies for fx and so on. the midi capability to connect the mpc / ableton is for me new.
