How do you organize your MPC samples?

How do you organize your samples within your MPC?

As an MPC 2500 user with OSXL, I would like to autoload a number of programs and samples, so I'm ready to sample some stuff and jam.

What I've found is that if I autoload too many samples, I can't ever locate individual sounds (including recently sampled sounds) within the trim or program screen - there are just too many to go through...

On a computer, these sounds would be organized into folders, so they would be easy to locate - but they would also be loaded in the memory and ready to play. If I sampled a new sound, they would be in a specific location and easy to locate/ edit.

Am I missing a critical feature, or am I simply not expected to autoload a lot of programs and samples.

Instead, should I only load programs I want to use manually? I don't like this, because it's more difficult to audition samples I may or may not want to use.


Does anyone have any sneaky tips, tricks, or ideas to improve the work flow and organize samples? Ideally, a number of programs and samples would autoload (808 kit, synth samples, breaks, one shots, vocal samples, etc.) so I could just scroll through my programs and pick appropriate sounds. This isn't really feasible since once they're loaded, I can't locate any individual samples within the HUGE list of samples...

Any insight would be gnarly.

I use an MPC 5000, so not sure if this helps, but I notice that the samples are in the same order that you load them in, which is not the best method! If yr Auto loading, I would imagine it would end up in the same order as it is in the folder, so probably alphabetical?
