Best Piano Software/Module

hey,

any thoughts/reccomendations on piano emulation ?

Brief:

This is for a live stage show.
Pop/classical style pianist. so feel is important to artist.
acoustic piano not possible, touring them is a nightmare (fragile / tuning etc)
not to mention the stage spill. band has live drummer etc.

I need it too look like a grand/baby grand.
So I have in the past used either the Roland V Grand (fav. so far) and the Yamaha GT7 (FOH engineer hates it) .
I have also used piano shells - with a weighted keyboard inside triggering other modules. This obvioulsy gives more flexibility with the sounds used, but it seems that (for the pianist) the feel is not right when triggering a module from a keyboard - latency issues i think.

I am just downloading Alicias Keys which has come highly recommended.

Just thought i'd see if you guys have any experience with soft pianos and what you recommend.

this one sounds amazing. way better than alicia's key imo.

This one's great too. Both of these kontakt ones are pretty cpu intensive as they're both around 10-12 GB of samples.

for a less realistic but more efficient option, I know a lot of people who like truepianos... it's good, but i'm not a huge fan. Other options are Addictive piano and the one by toontrack... there's a ton of samples and reviews of those on youtube.

Haven't really tried Ivory, which is another BIG one, but heard it's good too

Nord does awesome sampling and has several pianos to choose from. You might want to consider a module with a controller rather than the 88 key version. Modules/keys wont crash, etc. They also have other instruments, and you can download new sounds. I think Clavia is the manufacturer.

the debate continues... going to find some time in the new year for blind tests.
i actually really like that Steinway model.

Nord had always been my pref. but seems to of fallen out of favour with some in the group. i still think it's one of the best, we'll see what happens in the blind tests.

i think we're going to go with baby grand piano shell and keys inside.
easier on the road and more flexible for change.

anymore info/recommendations appreciated.
