I just want to start this off by saying that I love underground hip hop and boom bap to death. However I do sometimes enjoy some trap beats.
Ive listened to some of DJ Mustards production over the last few months. His beats are very simple, yet some are catchy and they bang pretty hard. What really catches my ear in some of his beats is that really interesting effect he uses on his high hats, the best example is the hi hats in "My N*gga" by YG & Jeezy. I never really used FL Studio to make beats, and I'm guessing its some sort of effect in FL Studio. Im really interested how he does this effect? Is it a pitch shift of some kind? I'll probably never use that style of hi hats in my beats but I'm really just interested how he does it.
