Album/EP track content

Would you rather put out an album or mixtape of let's say 12-16 beats of your choice, that might not be similiar in style, or put out an EP with only like 2-4 beats/songs that fit together?

Do you already have all the content made?

If so, I would just do both. Have your 12-16 jam 'mixtape' minus the few that you want to string together for the coherent EP thang. I don't see why that could hurt.

Personally though - I do make all the music I want and if it doesn't "fit" then f*ck it, still gets put out as a solid tape. I make lil' concept EPs with some friends regularly and wouldn't think for a second about splitting those jams up... outside of those it's all free game!

With the EP you can show people you can work on or finish a theme based project.

With the mix tape you can show your diversity. Win win.
