"SWING"

Greetings,

Can someone tell me how the Swing function works? I have a MPC2K-xl & when I make drum tracks I try to adjust the swing amount but I cant really hear a difference in the pattern. How dous it work? & why does it start at 50% ? I looked in the manual and on this site but cant find a good "real world" technique for using it.

try writing a beat all on one track and then turn the swing up to 75% you ll instantly notice the difference-

basically each beat is divided by 4- called sixteenths, and the second and fourth sixteenths of a beat are the ones effected by swing- the percentage is basically how far your moving these sixteenths away from the original place

where is the setting to adjust the swing located exactly?

If Im not mistaken, you get to the swing field by highlighting the timing field on the main screen, open window & it should be there.

Does any1 know how to get the swing setting back to normal. switching it back to 50% doesnt' work. Does any1 know how... thanx

might be do it on the 2000

it should go back if you undo or if you re-quantize at 50.

that works all the time the undo button. but you should be able to go back to 50% and hit the do it button.
