Drum Program usage in a beat

I was told that there was a way to use more than 4 drum programs at a time in a beat. Could anybody tell me how to use the Program change function on the Mpc to use more than just 4 drum programs. Thanks.

u cant. u can have 4 drum banks with 4 sets of 16 pads in them. so that is 256 pads. u can use in one song. which is more then enough. u have banks a b c d
and then u have drum 1, drum 2, drum 3, and drum 4 with the 4 banks per each one. That is more then enough then what u would really need.

u can use midi, if you set it to a drum patch on your keyboard

Or get a racksampler. You can get them for $50 if you search around. That will give you 16 more programs.

its possible but people act like it cant be done,if you layer your drums for sequence purposes then yeah

but simulteaneous is impossible- no more than 4 at a time- which is bloody loads if you ask me!!

People sometimes just aren't satisfied with what they have and want more. Maybe those same people don't know how to maximize their resources/features/samples and options in their gear. Either way, 4 programs is more than enough for me. I have YET to fill up all 256 pads and use ALL of them in a song.

Is he not just talking about using diff. programs on one seq.? If so, just switch tracks, using a diff. program on each track. Sounded like that was the question to me... Maybe I'm wrong.

nah i think he meant having 4 programs assigned in program mode. I like to have my shit on a seperate channel which leacds to like 7 or 8 tracks, BUT i use a rack moutn and pc samplers, not the mpcs. then u can get 16 programs instead of 4

i may be wrong but isnt it possible to have more than 4 programs sitting in memory. just not assigned to (DRUM:1-4)
then use insert program change message in step edit to change the program in memory for that particular DRUM part. maybe just as long as your other 4 programs dont fill all 64 pads.
