using track mute in song mode??

is there anyway to use track mute while your in song mode, like mute a track as the song plays if that makes any sense? for example liek muting the hi hats or snares in the middle of a song

the only way i know is to track the midi as you mute and unmute into another sequencer then save it to disk and load it back up as one long sequence

you could just convert your song to a sequence, then mute from the normal main screen, obviously thats not in song mode though.
