All of these are good suggestion, but the OP really needs to learn the rudiments of drumming. That's the only honest way to learn the basic concepts of drumming., without continuously running into a creative wall. The lessons below are for traditional drums, but they translate over to finger drumming and programming drums.

Don't cut tomatoes with a dull knife.
