Best rack sampler

i'll definitely step up for the Casio. i had an FZ-20m for a while. just a great sampler, for a nice price usually as well. wish i still had it, that's for sure. if it matters, i think i heard that whole Deee-Lite album w/ 'groove is in the heart' was done w/ two FZ samplers.

The S950, the S6000, or maybe the ASR10rack is the best... hard for me to say.

EMU systems E 64 : 200 $ for 64 voices /64 mo /9 g Hd( internal coped for 25 $ ) / digital I/O /crazy filters / awesome sound !!

So is the a5000 better than the S5000?

My vote's with the S6000 for ease of use. The detatchable front panel, USB sample transfers, HUGE screen and simple Akai-style OS all make it a breeze to use. Put it somewhere under your desk, and just have the panel in front of you. It's sweet.

I personally like the Akai sound, but if you're looking for the best sounding sampler with the sweetest sounding filters, look for a top-of-the range EMU, preferably with RFX board.

I have the a5000, but not to give a biased answer, the s5000 is better, but the yamaha comes really close *feature wise*. Then you have to look at the price difference. I got my a5000 for $135, with 9gb HD and external cd. An S5000 will hit for a lot more, and does very little less. (you may be lucky to get one for less than $450) I mainly use my a5000 to store samples, so the additional features didn't mean anything to me. To be really honest, I don't use the a5000 for what I needed it for...I guess I should pick up the manuel and finally read it.

What about an ASR 10??? Try that.
