I want to start sampling for the first time but have a ?

I do this all the time, sample a one hit chord or riff of myself on the triton and load that sample into my 2kxl. Why, cause sometimes I want that one hit/stab/riff on pads instead of keys.

can't you just hook the MIDI out of your MPC to the MIDI In of your keys?????? Then you don't have to sample.

casue he wants it on the pads, like maybe a chord or whatever.

yeah. But you can get a differant feeling.

There is something about chopping up a riff...........or the punchy ness you can get by trimming up a chord a few millaseconds.

Or if you sample a note, then detune it with your sampler, it has a differant texture to it.

You can also get synths to sound less synthish. They also respond to filters differantly. Or if you use a rack sampler you can modulate the samples and they react crazy.

Essentially its adding a differant charcter to the sound. Plus if you concentrate on sampling your own keys, you will pay attention to the quality of the sound more.

there is also a differant groove you can get as well, that looped sample feel, or a more collage feel.
