Syncing Cubase and the MP???

Okay, I've been able to sync the two, using the MPC as the master. I've even been able to use Cubase as the master. In both scenarios, the master program has been able to cause the slave device to commence playing, but in no scenario have I been able to record audio. It seems like as if syncing is only good for using one device to control the playback of the other. Am I wrong with that assumption or am I doing something wrong. If I can't get this done, I know I will be forced to record each track individually (manually) and I really don't want that hassle. So, if any of you can help me out, please do. Thanks.

sound card? audio connections? in cubase, do you have multirecord on? do you have the audio tracks enabled for recording?

its been a **** for me to get cubase sync'd with my mpc right... i said **** it...

i just multitrack in cooledit..

I'm using the M-Audio Quattro. My audio tracks are enabled for recording, I think, because when I use the regular method of recording, it works. Also, what is multirecord?

computer midi out to mpc in 2 set mpc to sync to midi clock.

Set cubase to transmit midi clock on the channel the mpc is on.

go to cubase options > multi record> channel split, there will be an extra column in your arrange window on the left, with the heading R, set up the tracks you want to record to by clicking the R box corresponding to the tracks. you should select the number of tracks your inputs your soundcard has. Make sure to go to the channel mixer and select the right inputs for each track (ie track 1=In 1Left, track 2=In1 Right, track 3= in 2 left, etc.)

When you say I should select the number of tracks that the inputs on my soundcard has, you mean I should send a track per each input? As in, track 1 to my first input, track 2 to my second input, etc? Since I have only two inputs (each consisting of a left and right input), I can only send two tracks at a time, right?

u can send 4 tracks at a time if use mono. Do u have the 8 outs one the mpc?? if you do, pick which sound is going out which output...kick out 1, snare out 2, hats out 3, bass out 4 for example, plug the cables to each input in the soundcard and koo. When you open cubase to record and start a new joint click F5 i think or F4 one of the two, this way you pick which inputs will be working by highlighting the little box, then add a new audio track, pick the input, arm it and check the levels...you should see four inputs when u open the input window..
