I'm getting an E-MU Proteus 2000 soon, but in the mean time I'm gonna mess around with some breaks because I am really bored with my current drum kits.

I chop my breaks in recycle and EQ them a little in there, but I try to keep them dry as possible. Then I export them to the MP where I can layer and fitler them. I stack them a little or filiter 1 and then place the low end under it. I try a lot of different techniques to get my drums to bang. But I always chop them, I have used a midi file a few times to use the break at different tempos if I want to use the break as is

nothing but i doubt everyone does the same thing all the time- the merits of various chopping techs have been discussed a number of times; a search will probably help you moe than a poll....

I use recycle to chop my sounds save and then strait to the mpc from there.

It all depends on the sound you are trying to achieve.... what about pre-made drum kits on floppies and cd roms? They have breakbeats on those too these days... anybody ever use pre made loops?

I like to chop in Recycle if I need to tempo correct, Otherwise I just go from the turntable,cd whatever into the MP.

use your mpc, thats what its for.
do what ever you want.
I chop and i loop, and i also recreate patterns with other drums, and i create my own patterns according to the beat and where the drums need to be.
Whatever the track calls for.
Sometimes looping doesnt cut it because you need an extra kick to accent the bass or part of the track, so you gotta chop a kick out, then layer it with the loop. OR sometimes you need to really slowdown the track so you cant loop it, so you chop it up. Or you need the an original pattern so you chop it up. SOmetimes all the chops dont sound right, so you piece together a kit.
Basically anything goes.
