Carlos Bess, who i think was the engineer for Rza, posted these pics some
years ago on another forum and i just found them from my hard drive.

I was surprised by that too. The other vocal rack has to be overdubs.

what's that on the channel 20 of triumph.. "smpte bondof" or something?
has smpte something to do with midi, err?

It's another timing protocol, recorded as audio, but not heard, timing pulses basically, but with positional information (eg, 1 minute 34 seconds) included. it is mainly used to sync tape machines.

It's the smpte offset at 20 seconds.

If you got the channels then it aint no surprise...The samples will probably be Mono, jus hard panned.....Unless they got some image on them that was best kept as stereo

that recording device, studer-827 looks real vintage

I surprised the SMPTE was on tk 20 (on Triumph) next to a vocal, It's usually on tk 24 with tk 23 blank as a buffer for crosstalk.
I guess they had their reasons for doing it that way, I guess in Audio there are many ways to do different things.
That is a cool insight on how they layed out their tracks.
