True Hip hop producers

this is for the hiphop producers, no effence to dance and techno producers, I just need their opinion. Other than compression and EQing what other effects do you guys use? I'm looking to get some plugins for sample editing but i dont know where to start.

And also on another note is their somebody on this forum that lives in rochester, NY that wants to work with me on some projects. I'm well aware that the chances of that is real low but I'm still asking.

man there are tons of effects i use to get my bass's pounding... its also sometimes cool to through some effects on my keyboards... but as far as specifics let me take a look at Reason and ill get back to u. If u have any version of Reason just bring up all the racks and see what u like. Also if u know alot about old audio tihs the control voltage filters are uckin nice...

i'm still playing with vocal compression - i'm usually a speedrapper and i've yet to find the perfect compression. i need some learnin.

A good filter is good to have. Chorus too! Pretty much any thing can be used sooner or later. I've been accused of having too much, but I like having variety. Ya Neva No!!!

layering effects are good for fattening up your hits. another effect to use is pass filters, high pass and low pass filters

good reverb and delay is essential when you are chopping samples to make the whole thing seem more smooth. I like the Waves Renaissance plugs a lot for compression eq and reverb and for delay the digidesign one works great as well as the moogerfooger analog delay. filterbank is the dopest EQ tho IMHO.
