i used to use certain sounds with my samples, like rhodes keys for bass and warmth, but if you are going to do that i use maaaad effects. Like reverb, filtering, delays, distoriton. And basically color it to suite the track. I dont really do that much anymore. Ive just been using wax.

I want to get it where all my samples come from original performances that are mic-ed up and played by musician friends of mine. i need a pair of good mics and a dat recorder and a stereo bar

i use my triton to add to the quality of the sample. i love to sample or to replay some of the sample and build on top of it to make the song have a life of its own.

on reflection, i only ever sample drums. everything else i play (or sequence) using synths n stuff. but then i sample those and rearrange the whole shabiz. 8) so its a big mix up for me.

never have and mostly likely never will use a keyboard with synthesized sounds. unless it's one of those synths they used in the 70's on soul records.. but for "real instruments" i'd rather sample, no keyboards here.

i do play guitar and bass though, not on all of my beats, just some, mostly basslines.

Man adding live instruments to the samples is where it's at and synths as well.
