quantizing question.. help me clear some things up

sup all,
ok i know the theory behind quantizing and swing but want to know if when laying down a drum track do you apply different quantizing to the kik,snr, and hats..
for example.
do you use
1/16 on the kik w/ 60% swing
1/8 on the snare w/ 70% swing
1/32 on the hats w/ 75% swing

or do you use 1/16 for all 3, kik,snr, and hat..
do you also use the same swing function??

I use different settings for different drums sounds, a lot of the time. Though, 75% swing is really a lot. I didn't even know it went that high. I never go above 60%. Fck with the later and earlier functions, thats the ill shht.

Yeah! Write your Ish down... i always forget it, and have to check it via The Step Editor.

i almost never quantize. shyt sounds more natural when you play it out with no TC.

Just my opnion. I haven't used quantising in over 10 years. I personlly don't like it. If the note i enter into the sequencer, don't sound right. I play it again, until they do.

i only quantize certain parts. i like keeping the hi hats and snares live but quantize the kicks. i used to quantize all the parts but my beats come out sounding too rigid and lifeless. i guess people expect their first beats to sound like primo just because theyre pushing some buttons and banging on pads. its not gonna make the beats for you. YOU have to input the rhythm and sounds. you can quantize everything but do you want to sound like the next guy with an mp?
