Steps to remixing a song...

Just trying to get a feel for how some of you cats approach the process of remixing a song. I have found this to be a tedious and long process but rewarding if done correctly. What first steps are some of yall using when you begin to remix a song?

Please indicate what you are using for software and hardware etc....

..got to use the force with this hip-hop sh**. Skills. Yo, find the tempo. Line up the verses and hooks, change it around or add a bridge/fill, etc. The only real thing to look out for is if cats is singing or doin a sing-songy type hook, roughly work out the notes involved and stick to that particular key. Other than that sky's the limit. Oh, but don't make it worse than the original... Just playin, have fun with it main!!
