I was messing around with Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) and found a cool way to chop a break up quickly. Using this with the mpc1000 makes things a lot easier.
1. Open your break. File -> Open
2. Add a label track. Project -> New Label Track
3. Place the cursor where u want to chop the break
4. Add a label. Project -> Add Label At Selection (shortcut is Ctrl+B)
5. Keep adding labels where u want to chop the break.
6. You can name each label of the break if you want.....then when
u save the file names will be the same as the label name.
7. Save the chopped break. Choose File -> Export Multiple
8. You can choose to save the break using consecutive numbers or use the label/track name.
9. Save the chops and then copy across to the mpc1000.
10. Make a banger.
