I have searched for hours for help for a newbie like me. Am still searching for books tutorials etc. to help me learn how to isolate vocals.

Also what are the best and most popular methods for isolating one sound from the others patches in a track?

What are you folks using?

Now that I have been here for a cople of months I'm starting to understand why some people just answer the thread with one word
SEARCH!!!!!!!
This question does get asked alot. Most people say how do you isolate sounds or vocals though. I have never heard someone called them patches. :? Anyways the answer to your question if you are talking about records is that seperating individal sounds off a record is pretty much impossible. It may sound like some producers get clean sounds but they probably just had a musician replay the sample. You can try different eq's and filters. These will get you close but not close enough.

Waves restoration plugins have a vocal isolater. Haven't messed around with it that much, because while it does leave the vocals, they sound really odd, maybe useful in some ways... Depending on what you want to do, ie. electronica (drum and bass, jungle, techno, house, that sorta thing) or maybe even rap, who knows...

But its a preset... So maybe with enough tweeking it could be usable...

Waves cost alot of $$ though...

If you can try and see if there is a demo, and do what you can...

Do a search and look for "hip hop producers bible" in some past threads, read through it and look for the chapter that has to do with what you are talking about.

Good News! If you have a Boss sp-303 just push the isolater button and wala!!!!! Just the beat without any of that MC heat!
