I don't care what you do, never shortchange yourself on a pre-amp. This is the key of having great vocals. Now the mic doesn't have 2 be a $2000 mic but any condenser ovet $100 will do. Look @ the Avalon 737sp and the Universal Audio's series. But "TUBE" is the way to go.
