I just figured out how to use Pro Tools as the Master and the Mpc as the Slave. I've set the tempo in Pro Tools equivalent to the tempo on my mpc. Now when i press play on Pro Tools, my mpc starts playing but it plays really fast and not in sequence. Can anyone help please...

as you said the MPC and PT are obviously communicting but you might wanna double check the steps below

Click on the MIDI tab in PT> click on MIDI Beat Clock> check Enable MIDI Beat Clock for... > check the appropriate midi device> click OK> click on the Setups tab> Peripherals> Machine Control> check Enable and select the correct midi device> click OK

On the MPC press SHIFT/9(MIDI/SYNC)> select the input you have the midi cable from the midi device connected to(1 or 2)> switch Mode: to MIDI CLOCK> switch Receive MMC: to ON

Make sure to set the tempo in PT to the same tempo as the sequence in the MPC.

if you have it setup like that and it still doesnt work Ill see if I can figure it out, I recall this happening to me a long time ago.

when you hit play on Pro Tools, what tempo does it start recording at?
and what tempo does the MPC say that its recording at? or does it sound like its recording at.....

for instance, when you press play and record on Pro Tools, and you set the tempo in Pro Tools, does it go back and start playing at 120bpm, or does pro tools start playing and recording at that set tempo and/or, does the MPC start playing at what tempo or what does the clock on the MPC say while its trying to record my MIDI into Pro Tools

when i press play and record on Pro Tools, and i set the tempo in Pro Tools, it plays like its at 120bpm but it still says its set at 81 bpm and so is the mpc set at 81

How are you setting the tempo in PT?

you might have accidentaly created a Tempo event, look at tempo bar(pink line), is there a tempo event there, it'll be a green marker with the tempo next to it

Go to the Display tab and make sure the transport window shows the midi controls expanded> on the transport bar click on the icon of the conductor(unless its NOT selected, if its blue, click on it so that it's not)> in the tempo field on the right double click on the tempo and make it 81.00 and hit enter

i believe u still might have the beat conductor guy thingy on... yeah, this will help us figure out where u going wrong at, depending on how u setting your tempo, cause that can be tricky in Pro Tools

Are you giving yourself a blank bar or two for the sync to set in?

Peace.
