and chart yourself a mix of drivers that will respond to your style of music.
i personally run my masters through B&W Matrix 804s to get a "final" sense but i don't like messing with frequencies (hitting bass notes on my keyboard) and having them come through my babies. you know > blowing your drivers are easy when you're sweeping freqs.
my 2 cents is to take a drive and hear how it comes through in a car. besides the driver you also have ambient noise that can determine if something is too low in the mix ( kind of the extreme of headphones ).
thinking about getting some event tr-8's though : money is tight but i heard those monitors are too!
