the swing function,

hi people,i've had the mpc 2000 for about a year now and i can't get my head around how to use the swing function, been at it for ages,loads of people told me many things about how to use it but nothing seems to work any help would be a appreciated.......

listen too how it sounds(alters your sequnce)when you apply it to your segment

yeah bricks i've tried everything, using it on my percussion, but it either does something radical or i just can't hear any difference, are there certain settings for using the swing function on percussion.... i don't really mess with earlier or later function just amount and percentage but still no joy all i can say is helllllppp!!!!!!

Swing is a great feature. Before swing my drum tracks had a good feel to them, but after messing with the swing function and learning how to apply it; my tracks groove improved.

Try using the earlier and later function also, I use LATER w/ swing amount like 1-3 on percs sometimes to give the perc track a lazy feel, it will hit almost on time but just late enough to create a lazy feel, and then with the swing added on there it just makes you all warm and fuzzy inside.

....uk garage for example- use a swing of 61% (tempo 130-135) and use short decay hits...

for funky house use 57-63%

even for certain styles of hiphop pushing the swing up gives that slip-slidy feel....
