Playing live

Im gonna play live in november.
How do you guys play live?
I have the following stuff:
-MPC4000
-Roland A33
-Evolution UC33
-PIV with digi001 (pretty fast & stable machine)
-PIII laptop without a soundcard (rather slow machine)
-Behringer UB1202
-Technics SL1200x2, Ecler HAK320
-MC303

I have lounge & hiphop. I would like to know what is the best and most stable method to perform my tracks in a live situation.
If I had 2 CD scratch tables I would burn it all 2 cd and mix things up and run it through the comp to apply fx, bu i havent....

Any tips? How would u setup my gear?

i hope to be playin live in a month or two. I'll be rockin the kaoss pad2, mpc1k, and my laptop. I'm running my 1k through the kaoss pad, and running the that through my yamaha mixer, along with my laptop (dell9100 3.0ghz). then from then from the mixer I'm going to route the mic inputs into the kaoss pad. I'm still working on my set, but so far so good. i will also have my dj dropping scratches, and acapella over what I'm doing. I'll be buiding the acutal beats on some songs. on my laptop I'll be running acid pro 5, so i can just throw in loops of whatever, or effects to certain tracks. I'm still working everything out as of yet. I just want to do more than rhyming on stage, with my dj. I just want to add some more flavor.

If you're not allergic to using a laptop on stage, Ableton Live is one of the best programs (if not thee best) for performing. It's really dynamic, and you can make each set you do as different as you want them to be - while still using all your own source material. You can put all your own loops, samples, etc. into it all separated, and recreate and remix your track right there on stage.
You can totally improvise and freestyle with it. It's really easy and fun to use.
Even if you just had an older version of Live, you'd be in business.
Then you could embellish on top with your MPC and turntables.
Just an idea.

Really, you could load all of your samples for your whole set into one project, and seamlessly flow from song to song in your set without stopping. That's how a friend of mine does it.

Or you could just stop in between songs, and close one file, and open another file. Doesn't take too long.

Thats how I do it in Acid. I have all my different tracks laid out in 1 session, and then from there I'll place time markers so each track will blend into and out of each other (kind of like a dj mixing), and with the mpc sync via, when the tempo changes in Acid it will automatically change the tempo on my mpc being that the mpc is the slave. I've messed with live personally, but probaly not enough. I'm just really use to Acid, and know it like the back of hand. I figure why change if its working just fine, but we'll see maybe I'll give another go around. it might suit my needs more so in a live situation, than in the studio.

ive been trying to figure out how to do a live set lately too. i wanna steer clear of the laptop cos my lappy is not really set up for audio, and i've seen too many boring laptop artists lately. So at the moemnt I've narrowed it down to taking my studio with me! But will probably settle for:

mpc60 + rack sampler + a few rack modules, virus and jomox drums.

but it's bloody heavy!

I used to play bass in a band and had to lug around a 8 by 10 ampeg cab and valve top. so heavy don't worry me too much today.

would be nice to not dismantle the studio to play live though.

Yes yes to rock a live show a real live show....
U need ableton live or
Serato Scratch....
Have crates of mp3s loaded onto your real turntable decks ready for mixing.. and you can rock a whole show with one turntable...
Using one turntable too switch between the laptop tops two turntables....
So you can scratch in a beat let it play switch to deck to to play on deck one...
And it lets th e other song play while ou can scratch over it or beat match to it until you want to drop in the other track.
