What filter/plugin for those Aphex Twin sound drum crunch's

ive been trying this for a while now also. Its pretty tricky. but i read some where that aphex writes his own software to modulate his samples.

I don't believe that. I think Richard D James creates a bit of hype about what he uses/does. Obviously its his bread and butter and he doesnt want everyone biting his style. I know for a fact that he's a big CDP user, and I'm sure he uses Supercollider alot aswell.

That was quoted when he was using max before people in general knew about it. he probably got into it through some friends at IRCAM so he said ablout creating his own programs, well that's what max does. then people take a quote that is many years old and warp it.

has anybody used an arpeggiator plugin?? i've got won but never have been able to work it...

i used to have a groovebox (yea yeah stop laffin).. but if u went to a drum bank and put the arpeg on you could play the keys and it would give you some pretty cool and crazy drum fills and snare and i thought if i could get this plugin workin i could fill up a bank of pitched snare and play them like that...

Ok so I tried doing it with looping the snare and various modulation tricks and it seems too fiddly to get right, I think it might be simpler than that, I've got one more thing to try and then my vote goes software.

thing is both of them had the sounds before they migrated to software- i personally think its sample manipulation with mad routings or some kind of messed up synthesis- oh and why is it hard to believe he modded his own synths?

yeah see i tried that too.. and the results were pretty poor.. and thats why i thought there has to be a trick of some sort...

maybe when they started they were doing it some complicated way.. but now i've heard other people doing im guessing that now there must be some synth or plugin that can do it as its getting a bit more commonplace.. (not really commonplace but more than 3 or 4 artists doing it)..

a lot of max patches are built to do it. it could also be some kind of delay they are using.

obviously one of those secrets that some people are keen to hold onto.. its a clever sound.. and the fact that not everyone can do it does make your music kinda unique...
