feature wise...

how are the sp1200 and mpc2000 similiar,been thinking about getting a mpc. like with features such as the commands?i do know one is the memory and the edit feature on the mpc are alittle different,is this true?

The MPC is capable of WAAYY more.
I have both a SP and a MPC2000XL. The biggest difference is sample time. The SP can only sample 10 sec total. The MPC with max RAM has several minutes worth of sample time. The MPC pads are velocity sensitive. The MPC has waveform editing (and tons of other editing capabilities that the SP doesn't have.) The MPC's samples are higher quality - higher bit-depth, and higher sample rate. (the lo-fi SP sound is desired by many though) I could go on for days naming the MPC's capabilities that the SP doesn't have.

Most people use the SP because of 'that sound.' It's pretty magic for hiphop.......but as features go, the MPC will run 20 rings around the SP.
Now I only use the SP to sample a sound and then sample it back into the MPC, so that I can get the gritty sound of the SP, but then edit the sample and sequence on the MPC. Download a MPC manual and read about everything it can do.

Everything I just said is about the XL version.

I always thought it was quite funny when people would say that 10 seconds of sample time "makes you more creative"...lmao.

i heard the main difference is the edit or truncate feature on the mpc
where you can copy a sample to a different pad and keep truncating
the same sample,i dont know how true this is but if it is then dam thats
a hell of an advantage!

I think it's true that it makes there music more creative cause they are creating a beat with alot of limitations and still finding a way to make an entire composition that works. Jel is a producer that works wonders with the SP's limitations. It doesn't mean that their music is actually better... it can be but it doesn't mean in every case that they are making better beats.
