on my 2000xl everytime i use the time stretch it trips out like this . lets say u start at ratio 100% & move it down to 70% it sounds crazy. now lets say we start at 100% & move up to or pass 170% it sounds crazy. what can i do or iz the time stretch just s*hty . keep in mind that all other settings work dope 10 ,20, 30 % works dope. any feed-back would help {DIG OR DIE] http://www.myspace.com/nardo

I don't know any piece of hardware that will stretch/compress more than 10% without it sounding crazy. 10% is usually the max you want to go unless you want the artifacts added to the sample. If you want to stretch a sample 70% and you want it to sound good, you may have to use your computer to process your samples. Remember that the MPC's cpu is like 8mhz... it can only do so much. I'm actually surprised that akai got it to do what it does.

He was referring to:

1) Akai
2) S950

Indirect reference....2 words by Kanye West feat. Mos Def and Freeway from College Drop Out.

"Well....u cant timestretch more than 5 BPM down or it will start sounding very weird... If I need it like 10 BPM down, i go ahead and timestretch, then bring it into FL studio...the FL SLicer chops it into like 60 different pieces...then u can slow it down another 5 BPM
So you can only timestretch or Chop 5 BPM...10 BPM if u do both.
If you want more BPM without it sounding like ****, youll have to both slow/speed up the sample, and transpose a Key or two....."
Yep, on point right there. More or less than 10-15% will start to sound unnatural.

He's talking about 2kxl.
