Gear Modification

Does anyone know of any Message Board or Online Groups that specialize in gear modification?

I have a cheap Gemini Pre-amp that is going to go under the knife, just curious if there has ever been anything particular done to it in the past to use as a guideline.

Replacing some of the internal components with some more high end stuff, i.e. the capacitors, and what not. I'm not 100% sure yet, see I just learning a bunch of tech stuff and I'm taking it to school to a gear head to pop it open. I might be able to turn this ordinary unused Gemini Pre-Amp into a nice warm sounding pre-amp. Or I might not be able to do anything, I'm gonna find out.
