I think the style has potential though. I agree the sounds seem to mostly come from darker DnB.

maryanne sounds hot, IMO. but i agree that the nonchalant radio host style just does not really jive with her statements on the culture...although theyre true enough, and she along with others are championing this sound.
i wish we had radio like this in the states...

Yeah Im excited about the style because I see that it goes over huge at dance parties.

Here in Vancouver, everytime someone plays an MIA or Dizzee Rascal track, all the girls in particular seem to get up instantly and dance. It seems like people can relate to that beat more than if it was techno or drum and bass.

I think the name thing is a little weird though, why not just 'grime' and 'instrumental grime'. or something.

I couldn't hear the difference at first and there are some riddims I still can't classify between the two. I was exposed to both at the same party so I was taking it all in at once. And to make it more confusing plasticman was there and his sound is lost inbetween dubstep and grime but with an industrial flava.

One thing I noticed is that grime has more gunshots and claps instead of snares. Dubstep has the dubby delays an ting. Both have that syncopated shuffle left over from 2step garage. Dubstep has more dark vibes and grime is less serious, more gangsta.
That's just my own observation I'm a clueless yank too. Non londoners will not understand this music until the London massif have already moved on to something else.

heh some friends in nyc been tryin to show me dubstep. i t's gettin really bigger in nyc...

there's a few people really into it, like selector moldy, a lot of em seem to be puttin their own shit out.
