how many of you guys out there quantize your tracks? Is it neccesary because most of my tracks are already on time. And if so how do you do it if you have pro tools 7.0 and an mpc 1000.

imo it all depends on the track i'm working on sometimes i'll quantize my drums at 1/16 and add some swing for a less robotic feel.sometimes i'll turn quantize off and and program or even sometimes i'll turn quantize to 1/16(3) and program drums.like it said it's all about the track you are working on.don't be afraid to experiment with differnt swing settings.i'm not sure if the 1000 has swing parameters

once u find a swing u like on the mpc, just go to step edit and see what times/ticks the sound is on, then later on you can just go into step edit with no quantize and place shiz where u know u like it

I quantitize with my Fantom X6. After a play the track not during. I listen to determine if it needs it. Some times Quan will uff up what I am trying to do.
