do you want fat sound for cheap??
i recently bought the Alesis modfx boxes. 20 bucks per unit. but oh my god, that smashup is wonderfull!! so if you want a nice comp for cheap, check Musicstore in Germany! 20 bucks really is nothing!!!

(whoopz, this should go in the studio environment section .. my bad)

yeah I'm a big fan of these boxes for the price!

I've got :
Bitrman, Metavox, Philtre & Amplitude

i'll have to check out the Smashup (compression right?)

my favorite part of these boxes is their link ports for digital routing!

yeah its the compressor. which is awesome. really fat!!!
allthough about the digital link, when I connect one or more modfx' s via the digital connectors, I get a digital click every few minutes :? .... I am not the only one with this proeblem, so it seems. Do you have those nasty clicks too?
i have put the tremolo on my roland keyboard, the comp next to my mpc and the phazer and the flanger next to the virus. My sound is MUCH better now! And only for 80 bucks!! Too bad there isnt a delay unit in this serie from Alesis. that would have been nice! with a tempo tab button. Any ideas for small desktop delay units? its for my turntables. its fun to scratch with a delay unit connected to the battle mixer. but I cant find no delay with a tempo tab button which is small and for desktop purposes. i did found that behringer thingy from 120 euros but i dont like behringer that much .. the only thing im going to buy in the near future from behringer is that big midif oot controller to control Live5 with. That combination is sick!!!

yeah I do get the clicks and have heard about them as well. i bought some null modem adaptors (9 pin female to male) and it stopped the problem though it adds bulk.

i mainly run them as seperate units like you mentioned just to add a little extra tweak to each MIDI device. as far as tabletop delay units I heard the Akai Headrush is pretty nice but pricey and I've been looking at the Danelectro tape emulator pedal but haven't heard them.

really though for DJ/Performance use I've heard the Korg pads and they are sweet!!!
