dropen baselines over samples[ how ya get down]

It depends on how you want to do it, sometimes I chop a single bassnote and play it under my kicks to accent my drums, sometimes I have an entirely different melody with the bass notes to countermelody what I got going on elsewhere in the track, sometimes I just sample the main loop with the bass turned way up and filter it way down to just keep the low frequencies bumping and play it under the loop to make it sound more full.... Low End Theory style...

I either filter the same set of samples...so they bump underneath the beat...or I use keyboard sounds and make my own basslines.

"phone tones" (from touchtone phones) are great, pitch down and eq'ed... With the right frequencies, you can get some boom.

Easiest way to create um is in soundforge... Under Synthesis... I used um more back in the day, when all I used to make beats was soundforge... cuting, mixing, and pasting beats( no loops either, all chops)... It was a great learning tool really.

Now I just use my fantom X and my Fender Bass for all my basslines, and sample as I play along...

i was joking

i use a monterey four string bass. it's much better in the long run. learn to play bass and you can sparkle your tracks with stuff you'll never get from a module or 17 levels. bright harmonics and funky slap lines are where it's at.

bass is the first thing i 've been starting with lately. A solid bass line with a few variations, then the drums, fill with samples - i don't loop so i'm not usually building around a sample, but the other way around. I use a lot of echos and dub effects and SPACE. I've been tryin to leave room in my compositions lately, not emptiness but thick space.

I'm still lacking in the bass area. I need to work on that more. I like that low humming bass. I'll get there sooner or later. HOPEFULLY

I usually try to find good bass samples and filter etc. but now my friend has playing the bass parts.

you just gotta know how to listen good have the ear and see what bass line sound will match up with that sample. Fairly easy ma dude.
