Vintage ???

Many guys here say that they like the MPCs cos' they have that nice "vintage sound".But what does it mean really?Personally i use the regular 2k with CD roms and the sound is....what it is on the CD-rom, not particularly vintage or some other name you can give..So,i'd like to know what is VINTAGE...can you give me your opinion, please?

vintage to me means real old and practically priceless. like a vintage telefunken u47 microphone, or a neve 1073, or urei 1176, etc. mpcs arent vintage to me. maybe the 60, but not really. vintage is in the eye of the beholder though.

Why don't you try recoding all your samples through a distortion. or Tube pre-amp or a Computer based Tube Distortion simulator.. That will add the Vintage coloured sound your after...

When they say "Vintage" it is either one of two things:
The 12 bit sound you get from a MPC60 or the fullness of the sound once it is sampled from your source on any MPC. Could be choice "C" a plain misinterpretation.

anybody use sansamp to phatten up the sound?
just curious if it sounds nice.

vintage: of old, recognized and enduring interest, importance or quality.

distortion: to twist out of shape and cause to be precieved unnaturally.

one does not necessarily imply the other .
