If you are still intent on making a loop play indefinitely, of course it can be done. (as Goins pointed out)
Enter Step edit on the MPC for the particular sequence. Trigger the loop pad and hold it down for however many iterations of the loop. The D (for Duration) number should be very large if you're working with any serious length of a loop.
Play the sequence. If, at the end of the sequence, the loop does not re-trigger when the sequence begins anew, lower the D number. Continue with this until the sample loops properly. A frequently-suggested technique for getting the sample to loop well is to insert so many samples' (the time unit, not the file unit) worth of empty sound or to lower the volume at the beginning or end of the sample (the file unit) when appropriate to avoid a "clicking" noise.
That's all there is to it.
I unfortunately don't have one of these looper toys you guys make reference to. Which would you say has the best bang for buck?

Im a new owner of an MPC2000xl. Ive been reading the manual and going through this site to find out how to trigger a loop and have it play forever until i stop it. Can it be done, can i hit a pad to start it playing and then hit the same pad to stop it when i want?[/color]
