I use cubase vst 5.0 with my mpc, just hook the pc midi out to mpc midi in, then in the midi/sync screen of the mpc, ste the midi in to 1 or 2, depending on the input you've choosen.
In cubase, set "send midi sync out" to on an select your midi out sound card. I don't know how you make it with other softwares, but it should be the same thing. ste the same tempo on your soft sequencer and the same timing sign. This way, your soft is set to master and the mpc to slave, so when you press record on your soft, the mpc start reading your sequences. Record your tracks one by one this way, and then add fx, or anything you want!
