Sampling Drums from vinyl

What Plug-ins you using... everyone keeps tellin me to get the Gold Wave or Native Wave or whatever Plug-In Package... Is that any good???

Any Waves package is great. If you only get one pack of plug ins, they are probably the best all around choice. If you don't have any cheese or don't wanna spend any, then the others that I mentioned before are the way to go. Oh yeah... I forgot to mention the MDA plug ins. That's a sorta freebie Waves-styled package. No frills, but pays the bills.

I do have the Renaissance eq. Just never tinkered with it. If you could give me some tips on setting up the parameters you mentioned earlier, that would be great. Also, could you tell me more of what a shelving curve/filter does? That is the only filter I am iffy about.

Some cats on the forum used to say that using the BBE sonic maximizer boosts the low end, I was gonna try one of those...

Anybody know how to get VST effects to work... I can't get them ot Open up in any of my programs (SoundForge, Audition, or WaveLab)

Remedial:

a shelving eq kinda does what its name suggests. it creates a 'shelf' that starts at a specific frequency you choose, then cuts or boosts a flat line beyond that. the bell curve boosts a bell, etc. the hi pass or low pass filters kinda do the opposite effect. if you could imagine the shelf cut/boost to be a horizontal line, the filters would be their vertical counterpart.
