which compressor th choose out of these 3?

Dear fellers

I m still tryin to buy a compressor and need some help! Thanx in this occasion for the advices you were givin me one two months ago! It was very helpful!

Meanwhile I ve done some homework and have to decide amongst 3 models! (my budget is more or less 500 Euro / $, all the other more expensive beautys are out of budget! So please don’t give more expensive advices!)

1) dbx 1066
2) 2 dbx 166 xl
3) TL Audio Ivory 5021 (which I can get second hand from a local record studio!)! my concern here is the automathic attack, release settings!
I got a mackie with 4 subgroups and want basically to compress 4 channels (insert!)

Basically I want to compress all kind of sound from bd, sn, other perc, guitars, voices, synths , …

get the 2 dbx 166 XL's.

yup i got the 266xl....you can hear it in my tunes:

take a while to play with it and youll be set...dont think its a magic box but take your time in being subtle...

oh and not trying to teach you to suck eggs but make sure when your a/bing the sounds you make sure the outputs are the same level....ive seen to many peeps compare their compressed and uncompressed sounds but havent actually made sure they are coming out at the same value....making it impossible to a/b properly...

don't worry about it, get the two 166's and you'll have 4 channels of compression.

I know this wasn't one your three choices but I thought I would suggest two RNC's, you can get them as a package with a rack mount for them. I recently used one and I'll definitely be picking up a couple of 'em for myself. I saw the package deal somewhere(can't remember where right now) for less than 400.00 US.
