GREAT BOOK!
If you ever wanted to get started in thi sarea and didnt have a clue about how to program patterns like the pros then you need to get this book quick fast in a hurry(unfortunately its out of print but you can find a few used on Amazon)......everything is laid out in detail and as long as you know the basics(bars, time sig, counting beats, notes, drum type) you will be good to go....while the book is done with the live drummer in mind, it will fit well with your mpc as the notation is simple and easy to understand and it comes with a cd of audio examples from the book. The audio examples are plentiful, detailed yet simple and laid out very well, and you can easily program any one of the patterns into your mpc in minutes.....trust me, for anyone struggling with the whole Jungle, drum and bass, breakbeat, squarepusher type production this book is a godsend.......
No more having to muss around with amen breaks and loops in recycle(unless you want to)....very recommended.......
