I think for alot of real dedicated heads, that was the heyday right there. I mean, "the golden era" is officially in the 80's, but when someone younger than 30 says golden era, you know it's like 93-96. Shit was creative and progressive then, and right now, it's not. But, I really feel it's a combo of things. Record lables only making singles, ego's in the industry, and really the consumers, too man. I mean lables don't WANT to make crap, but when some loser who's new on the scene, can't spit, but got a Neptunes track or what-have-you on his single? People will buy what you tell em to buy, as long as they think everyone else likes it. And I'm talking about people who BUY records and concert tickets to these stadium joints. Those are: Kids who like the basic shit (ie:pop shit) and Adults who don't care how many rhymes you got, or how much you love hip-hop. Then everyone goes and copies that formula, at least for a few months, as long as it did well on billboard. And with hiphop, it's like, were on a f'ing 6 year binge of terrible music being the norm. The record industry F'd itself in the rear, and WE pay the price: crap music...again.
When ARTISTs and media made it popular to be 'positive' again, in the late 80's early 90's, Latifah had a great career. That was a package too, man. People just need to wake up agian tho'. And if people killing the two favored rappers of both coasts can't wake people up and show them that 'Thug Life' is not fun and games, well then, ish man, nothing can.
What Puffy, and the beginning of the worste era in hip-hop (which, for the record, I feel is long been over) did was, got US (the Rap Game) huge budgets to work with, and actually made 'rapper' a respectable career in the eyes of the media, and pop culture, or so they'd have us believe for the past few years. Of course, integrity was sacrificed for the dough, but that's always how it's been. Hoin' been around since P*ssy was invented, and people always gonna hoe for the dough. Especially pus*ies w/ no heart and no creativity. Pop music is always gonna prey on the most base human emotions: Marry me, love me, I'll shoot you, get drunk and dance, etc. Anything else is not pop. You can't invent something universal to everyone! Theres only a few things that are. We only came close with the weed craze, when everyone finally admitted it was ok to smoke weed. then it was cool for a minute, but now it's whatever. So, once we found a way to make this dough; once Rap became Pop, there's no turning back.
I think People like Ceelo and Luda are good examples you brought out, cus they got progressive, danceable beats, but they are creative MCs as well. As far as Chingy, or any other gimmick ass fools out there...you think he's a career artist. Do you think Chingy will be around in five years? I surely F#$%ing hope not! Just throwing my 2 cizzents as usual.

But for real, there is good ish out there. Mobb Deep IS still in this game. And so are most of your other favorite rappers. Support those artists you feel. Don't steal music. Get your iTunes on. Call up all these unsigned clone cats like, "you, I bought your sh**ty five dollar mix tape, and you are like something Cam'ron crapped out. you are a copycat loser and you're part of the problem". Tell people what you think, and support good music with cash!!

Oh man, but is this Mobb Deep album out or what? Release date?

LOL...too funny...I went to a Ludacris/Ceelo concert last year and these chicks was so made at me! I was right up front (blazed as h*ll) having a GREAT time! These chicks kept crying and $hit saying i was elbowing them in the head ("throw them bows..")lmao. All the while, they're just standing there trying to look cute and $hit.
