good records to sample snares?>

Word sense... Rock snares layered on top of ech other get some bangers pumpin through... Styx got some rela heavy snares too as well as Queen... I usually go for more Psychadelic and Bluesy rock though... CCR, Vanilla Fudge, Caravan, Jimi Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd... Those are my favorite snares right there.

solid advice - raw hits and kicks wont make a track - other percussion will.
check some of the other elements that fill a track out and make it worth a listen - lewis parker( UK hopper) uses good percussion to back up all solid hits and all his beats rock hard!!

Man I was in the goodwill and recs were 5 for 1 dollar...
Of course I cleaned it out but when I got home I reallized someone must have dusted my blunt, cuz somehow I didn't bring home that Vanilla Fudege or those double copies of Honeydrippers...

But Parker got some great snares too. But there's great tracks that don't even have a snare at all. get yourself a few good handclaps, and fingerpops (is that a word?). Try making a beat with no snare. And layer. layer everything and anything in fact.
And get yourself a mic, and start sampling everything that makes noize when you hit it (wife not included).
not only will you come up with some great sound to layer over your snares (hitting tinfoil with a stick works for me) but you'll feel just like a 5 year-old all over again.

there are some kits at kenfen with some pretty wicked snares. DjAz processes everything he does through vintage hardware direct to the MPC. No computers. Just kickin' hardware. A good case for buying sample packs. Just my 2 cents.

I sample claps a lot for tracks... I've made tracks with absoultely nothin besides a Bass Sample, a real deep kick, and an occassional Ride... Came out pretty nice too.

if you got a good mixer, take the right and left outs of your turn table, and run them in 2 seperate tracks on your mixer...........run the direct outs of those channels into your sampler... that way you can pan or add eq to your samples, as well as effects. simple and str8 foward.
