they don't have the same converters and the outs are different on every MPc (at least, it's very different between a 1000 and a 4000, just read the signal levels on the specs page on akaipro.com...)
on the 1000:
Stereo output (L and R) 1/4-inch phone x 2 unbalanced +11dBu, output impedance 1k Ohms
Max. output level +17dBu
4 individual outputs 1/4-inch phone x 4 unbalanced +11dBu, output impedance 1k Ohms
Max. output level +17dBu
Phones output 1/4-inch stereo phone x 1, 200mW / 32 ohms
on the 4000:
Main Out L/R 1/4-inch stereo phone/XLR Combo jack, balanced,
1/4-inch phone, Imp. 1.7kohm, 24dBu max.
XLR, Imp. 200ohm, 18dBu max.
Assignable Outs
(IB-48P required) 1/4-inch stereo phone x 8, balanced, Imp. 1.7kohm, 18dBu max.
Headphone 1/4-inch stereo phone, 60mW (32ohm)
and the 4000 can sample at 24bit/24kHz for better accuracy, a digital sound "closer to vynil's"...
