Any mv users out there!!

i finally made the switch a couple days ago, yo the mv is crazy!!! i had a mpc 1000 for a minute (more than a minute really). i have used the 5000, 2000, xl, etc, but the mv is truly the all in one. akai will always be akai, but with the mv & maschine, akai needs to step up there game! the 5g is cool but there is no real substantial improvements. the editing ability & work-flow is right on the money, not to mention simple aspects like built quality. almost forgot to mention there customer service is also very help full! it's always good to talk to other users to get some insight. I started with the MPC 2500, then thinking it could offer me more i sold it and brought the MV.

BIG MISTAKE.

People make the mistake of thinking the more features the better, when in reality, i think the beauty of the MPC is its simplicity and because of that its workflow is second to none.

It was a crazy moment of gear lust and im thankful i saw the error of my ways, sold the MV and came home to the 1k.

When my 2000xl died I was tempted to make the switch.
But I still picked up a 2500.

My Mv is coming in the mail today. Along with a monitor and two techs 1200 one an mk2 and one an m3d. It was quite the deal.

Yeah got an mv8800,never thought I would,but the deal was to good to pass up.it's NOT an mpc. it is it's own machine,own work flow the whole 9.akai should have made the 5000,with feature's like the mv i.e. monitor connect,with software intergration,and a classic mode( for 12 bit sampling) but having the 4000 and mv I'm str8t.

I use an MV8800 as well as the MPC4K,The MPC is the main sequencing tool and Main studio workhorse the MV more of a secondary machine which does minimal sequencing but has been retained for Live use because I only use 2 Synths and a handful of Racks Live so the MV drives the gear in the band,I rate the MV highly,but the 4K just cuts it for me in terms of ease of use and workflow(I do most of the sequencing on the 4K and then simply transfer those sequences via Midi file format into the MV for live playback,there is little between the two IMO and hence why I will always keep/Use both

I had the MV8800 before I got hold of the 4K,(But have always wanted a 4K)so kept an eye out for one,and would have stuck with just the MV if it wasn't for its lack of Multiple Midi outs like the 4k,I have a lot of Equipment that the MV can't drive without having to reconfigure everything cable wise,with the 4k everything is routed through it without tedious recabling or routing of Midi channels and cables because of its 4 Midi outs. its not to say the MV is redundant,far from it,the MPC4K is left wired up in the studio so i don't have to break it all down for Gigs(Plus I wouldn't want to take the 4K out on the road

If Roland were to make a MV9000 or something which rivalled the 4K or 5K with more midi outs but still retained most of the MV8800 features and perhaps more Audio recording along the same Lines as a Linear Multitrack Audio recorder,I would be tempted to ditch both the 8800 and 4K in favour of that but it would be a Hard decision to make given my high regard for Both Machines

For me there really is little difference in the MV8800 and 4K,its more about your workflow and setup and what fits your working methods,at the moment the 4K has the upper hand with its wealthier Midi out count,I'd certainly like to see a future MPC/MV with a minimal of 4 midi Ins as well as possibly 6 outs and the ability to do multitrack/Channel recording at once

I got an 8000... the thing works. what more can be said? It does what it does.

I got one because it is a hardware sampler that has 512 ram and doesn't cost like a grand if not more. I got my MV with VGA almost new in the box with all the paper work and manuals for 400 bucks a couple of years ago and still haven't had the chance to really master it because it's packed with shit you can do on it.

Okay, I loved the 2000xl because it takes 30 minutes to figure out all the abilities of the machine but the MV takes dedication. I wish I still had my XL but I wound up selling it for 7 bills stock.

I wish someone could show me how to use the Mv. The thing is so confusing. It's quite difficult to chop samples. At least for the time being.

well it is easy but different then the mpc.

You gotta poke around... try having a peek at your available options while importing a sample. I'm sure you will see it.


For me my problem is remembering what is imported, what is where... basically assignment location type stuff. That is mainly because some of my projects actually are like 6 projects in the one project.

I have an mv8000 but i don't use it a lot cause when you sample or import a sound it filters out some of the higher frequencies and to remedy that you have to use an option called "pre-emphasis" witch takes a lot of time to use on every sample and makes it too damn slow for my taste.

Otherwise it's a great piece of gear but the lack of outputs and the slow importing turns me off.

Fasttracker, i never noticed the mv filtering out the high's, i think it really depends on the quality of the sample! to me it the loading is very fast, i never had a complaint about it.

I had an mpc2500 put jjos da whole nine, I had to get rid of it all the bugs and updates and all dis bull da machine is suppose to do already got tired of it even though I luved da mp coming from software. Got da Mv n I can tell u one thing I aint going bak to akai. Da 8 outs is a real bummer and I do miss da fast loading on da mps but until they step up there game up I aint going back!
