i was just wondering how you guys make the final descision on what stack to get. I mean, how do you all dwindle your choices down when it comes to picking vinyL?

anything interesting youve done?

Everytime i go in, i wanna just buy everything i see.....but, i cant. So i usually set a number or something-like i got ten bucks to spend. Thing is i can spend all day, and if i keep comparing them, i would never decide? Hope you all feel what im sayin......ANyways i usually stick to the dollar bin because since im sampling i look at it like "i can get 10 dollar bins, for one 10 record" The other day i actually invested in a 15 record because it really looked interesting, and it was awesome!!!!!!! Is it time for me to get a portable?

do you have a price limit to a record?

peace

I don't have a portable
If there's a listening station in the store then i use it
Otherwise its just a educated guess / feeling... sometimes a gamble
thats another thing i like about digging.. when gambles pay off !!!

i'd rather spend bigger $ on a dope record than the same amount on several average ones.

I usually go with the dollar bin for sample records. If I have extra that I can't buy and I want then I hide them somewhere in the store just incase or if your cool with the owner he may let you stash them for a few days until you can return. I'll buy anywhere from 10-20 records at a time dependant on my funds. For new records 12" single i usually have good luck finding the promos for like 3 or 4 bucks. I haven't really been keeping up with new records thought always spending all my dough on potential sample sources.

But yeah decsions suck when you have stack of records and the money stack ain't that high

Get educated on old producers, musicians, record lables, remixers... etc.

You'll always end up with some sh*tty records while digging, but you can always get samples off of them.
Basically, make the most of what you got.

If I only have money to buy ten records, I just take the first ten that look good.. If you keep on looking after that you'll just find more of 'em that you'd want to buy and then you have to start cutting some of them off... and that sucks!

Basically when I'm in a hurry or low on cash I just go through one crate and take anything that looks good..
Only if I have more money/time then I dig deeper and go through all of them crates.

if all the records ur picking up look interesting to u, just get a portable that will ease ur mind alot and take the guess work out of the equation.

some peeps just wanna make stuff harder than it need be, cop a portable but also like the man above said learn lables and periods and how they sound.

Also familarise ur self with producers and artists and what sound they had at a particular point in their career.

what up what up.

I dont like to spend more that 30 bucks at a time.

my mandatory stevie wonder record (im workin on gettin em all)
like 2 records at like maybe 5 bucks i know is gonna be dope (whether i dig the artists, or the instruments, etc)
Then i go to the dollar bin.
at my spot, they got a great one. 30 records for 10 bucks. or 50 cents a piece. I get real dope ish outta that. Also, on the way outta my spot, they got a stack of free records. I always take the whole thing
